Tobacco Free Living Awareness Campaign
The Louisiana campaign for Tobacco-free living (TFL) engages in local and state wide tobacco control policy efforts that focus on tobacco prevention, eliminates exposure to second-hand smoke, promotes cessation services, and identifies and eliminates tobacco-related disparities.
Challenge to solve
For years the message that smoking is harmful to your health has been repeated to the public again and again—and yet there is still a large population of smokers in Louisiana. Big Tobacco companies are specifically targeting people in rural areas, young adults (vaping) and the LGBTQ+ community—and in turn their health.
The Solution
By now, smokers are well aware that tobacco is harmful to their health. Rather than drilling the same message of fear, we turned our focus on sharing personal stories of positive change. By sharing an individual’s reason, struggle and victory over quitting—we hope to inspire more people to consider why they themselves should quit.
